Hänel offers a specially designed version of the Hänel Lean-Lift® automated storage system specifically for storing heavy loads. Developed as an efficient storage system for heavy-duty applications, each storage container can support loads of up to 1,000 kg. The total capacity can reach up to 60 tons in the special heavy-load version of the Hänel Lean-Lift®.
Additionally, the Hänel Rotomat® can also be configured in a version specially tailored for storing heavy goods.
These specialized systems for heavy-load storage have a wide range of applications. Tools are frequently stored in such systems, but heavy equipment and production materials can also be efficiently managed in this type of warehouse. Even in the heavy-load segment, Hänel provides tailored solutions for every requirement.

Durable storage: designed for heavy loads
Exceptionally heavy items place high demands on storage systems. Special heavy-load storage systems are required to safely handle the weight of bulky goods. Significant forces are exerted during loading and unloading — the warehouse must be built to withstand these forces.
Unlike other storage systems, a heavy-load warehouse is organized based on the “goods-to-person” principle. This means that the required goods are brought directly to the operator’s workstation.
While there are standard heavy-duty racks designed only for static weight, a dedicated automated heavy-load warehouse offers not only secure storage of heavy items but also comfort and safety during loading and unloading — thanks to fully automated processes. In such systems, not just the racks, but also the motors and drive components are specially engineered for handling large weights.
Implementing the “goods-to-person” principle typically requires a large storage footprint. For very heavy goods, it’s often not feasible to fully utilize vertical storage height. However, an automated heavy-duty warehouse can take full advantage of the entire storage height and can automatically transport heavy loads both to their storage location and to the retrieval point.
